Cover Supervisor - Wigan

Teaching Personnel are currently looking to recruit a Cover Supervisor to work within one of our partner schools in the Wigan area on a full-time basis until January 2019 initially.

Since returning in September this academic year, the school have been stretched in terms of their cover staff and have highlighted that they now require an 'On-site' Cover Supervisor to provide support to a number of departments such as English, Science and Maths.

  • Full-time Cover Supervisor required immediately until January 2019 initially
  • The school wish to meet with interested candidates at the earliest convenience
  • Delivering pre-planned lessons to students in the absence of the class teacher
  • Experience working alongside students aged 11-16 is preferred however not essential
  • You can expect to earn around £1200 a month
  • Opportunity to be employed beyond the initial outlined period dependent on performance

This Cover Supervisor role is an ideal position for anyone who is considering a career as a teacher in the future and can be seen as the next natural step after completing your degree.

As a Cover Supervisor working within our client Secondary school you will be covering lessons in the absence of the class teacher, and the work will be pre-set for you by the absent teacher. It will be your responsibility to ensure that all students are behaving appropriately, are engaged throughout the class and completing the work that has been set by the teacher. You will be situated within the school on a full-time basis and be on hand if required to cover lessons that a teacher may not be able to attend.

The proportion of disadvantaged pupils within our Secondary school is significantly higher than the national average and most pupils are of White British heritage. The proportion of pupils who speak English as an additional language is lower than the national average.

The school is situated in the centre of Wigan and is in an excellent location if you are travelling via public transport. If commuting by car then the school has on site car parking and is just minutes away from the A58.
