THE SCHOOL:

Little Ilford was first stared in 1957 and is located in the London Borough of Newham (easily accessible by Manor Park train station). The School has nine forms and students ranging in age from eleven to sixteen. Ofsted rated this school as high achieving where "Students take pride in their work and the school-wide literary strategies are highly effective in improving standards in all subjects" (Ofsted 2012).

The school prides itself on teaching students skills for life, offering extensive extra curricular activities such as language, science and sports clubs whilst also working hand in hand with the ELBA charity to help social regeneration in East London.

THE ROLE:

Teaching Personnel have a strong relationship the Bridge Academy and supply cover teachers on a regular basis. As a cover supervisor, you will need to have a confident and flexible approach towards teaching. The role will include supervising whole classes during the absence of the teacher, responding to questions, assisting pupils in undertaking set activities and maintaining order. In most classes being covered work has already been set.

Cover supervisors are valued and highly regarded, this position would suit a graduate with a strong academic background and a passion for working with children, or someone with previous experience within secondary schools.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Effective communication skills: written and verbal. Able to communicate effectively with a range of people in a variety of contexts
  • Possess the resilience and stamina required to cope with the demands of the post
  • Shows initiative and a positive and flexible response to change. Able to accommodate the changing needs of the school and children
  • A desire and ability to improve own performance through reflection and appropriate professional development.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
