Cover Supervisor Needed for Good School in Rochdale

Due to ongoing absence within the teaching team, our client school in Rochdale are looking for a full time, onsite cover supervisor to assist with any planned or unplanned absences and to assist in general cover of lessons. This position will require an immediate start and will be an ongoing position, continuing after the start of the next academic year.

Duties of a cover supervisor in Rochdale:

  • Leading whole classes and supervising work set for pupils
  • Ensuring pupils adhere to school rules and behave in a correct manner
  • Respond to pupils queries and offer good advice and direction
  • Ensuring work is completed to a good standard and returned to appropriate member of staff

Working as a cover supervisor is a very rewarding role which involves the teaching element as well as being involved in the behaviour development and mentoring, assisting pupils in reaching their potential and raising attainment. It is a great way to gain experience in a secondary school environment if you aspire to be a teacher in the future or are soon to be enrolling on a PGCE course or similar. Previous experience of working in a secondary school environment would be preferred, however applicants would be considered if they have any relatable experience or are recent graduates considering a future in teaching.

Skills needed:

  • Good knowledge of KS3 and KS4
  • Good reading, writing and numeracy skills
  • Behaviour management
  • Highly organised
  • Good at building relationships (pupils, teachers and parents)

Our client school is a large mixed school in Rochdale, with a strong academic record and an excellent reputation in the community it is very popular in the area. Due to the schools good management and teaching staff they have recently been graded good by Ofsted, and due to this the school require a good cover supervisor to cover absences and keep up the high standards while the school attempt to reach outstanding status. With state of the art facilities and a recent refurbishment, including a £1million investment into new IT resources, the school is a perfect place for an aspiring teacher to gain experience in a secondary experience whilst receiving strong support from the existing teaching staff.
