Classroom Assistant 1:1 Support

Job description

We are working with a mainstream primary school in Bidport who are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant for this term to work with a child in Year 6 who has Global Development Delay. The position will be full-time Monday to Friday and the hours will be 8.30am-3.30pm. This is a long term position until the end of the academic year.

The role will consist of supporting the child 1:1 with all aspects of their learning whilst also having a flexible approach to ensure that they remain an active participant within the classroom environment and have frequent interaction with their peers. The child is working at the level of a Key Stage 1 child so knowledge of the Key Stage 1 curriculum will be advantageous.

Your key duties will include:

  • Assisting the Class Teacher in the planning and preparation of meaningful activities and resources for the child
  • Differentiating work when necessary
  • Using visual cues and interventions to promote the child's learning
  • Implementing effective behaviour management strategies
  • Any other duties allocated to you by the Class Teacher

The school are looking for a committed member of staff who can build a relationship with the child and will help with the transition into a secondary school.

It is essential that you have experience of working in a classroom and enjoy working with children who require extra support.
