English Teacher required in Chichester!

Teaching Personnel are currently working with a specialist SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) provision based in Compton, Chichester. This provision is currently seeking a fully qualified English Teacher, to lead sessions a range of pupils operating different levels of Secondary Education. The school caters for a variety of complex SEMH needs, such as:

  • Uncooperative or disengaged behaviour
  • Challenging behaviour
  • Theft
  • Previous experience sexual or domestic abuse
  • Drug and alcohol addition

Many of the attending pupils also demonstrate additional special needs including: Autism, ADHD, OCD, Anxiety, Dyslexia and Speech and Language delay.

The provision provides short-term placements for those pupils who do not have access, do not engage with or have been permanently excluded from mainstream education.

The role and responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver and mark sessions for boys and girls with complex SEMH needs
  • Engage and motivate pupils
  • Inspire trust and confidence in pupils, colleagues, parents and other professionals
  • Plan and lead children in off-site enrichment activities
  • Ensure you uphold all safeguarding procedures, including engaging in annual safeguarding training, including induction training

The candidate:

  • Minimum of 2 years English teaching experience
  • Experience of working with children with SEN, SEMH or challenging mainstream children
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • An excellent knowledge of the specialist curriculum area and how it may be effectively taught.
  • QTS
  • Full comprehensive knowledge of the English curriculum
