Catholic School in Preston – SEN Support Assistant role
Large Catholic Primary School linked to the local Diocese require an experienced SEN Support Assistant to work in their KS1 department
The school is located near to the centre of Preston and serves a mixed catchment area; with children arriving from Ribbleton, Penwortham, Ingol and Frenchwood areas of Preston.
The Head teacher is well-respected in the local community and has been in post since 2010.
What is the role?
The role is to work alongside a child who is relocating to the Preston area. The child has a range of needs and is covered through Local Authority funding and has an in date Education Health and Care Plan. The parents of the child are keen to support the move through the school and have already met with the Head teacher and SLT to ensure the provision is suitable. The needs of the child are linked to a recently diagnoses. The child is high on the Autism Spectrum; with particular barriers when communicating and socialising with other children. Academically, the said child is working in line with expected levels and this is something that will need to be supported by the Support Assistant. The working hours are 0850-1530 and this is the expectation for the working week (five days).
The child is expected to join in the Year 1 class and so the school have asked any applying candidates to have previous experience working in lower KS1. It is also desirable that the applying TA has good experiences working on a 121 basis alongside children with Special Educational Needs. The Head teacher is also happy to accept applications from Support Assistants who have worked alongside adults or children with Autism in alternative provisions and residential settings. Just to note, the Head teacher is also happy to see applications from candidates who have personal experiences working alongside children with Autism.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
