Care Assistant Jobs - York

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a Special Needs School in Acomb, York, to support their staffing needs. We have found that those whose work experience includes as a Care Assistant or Support Worker, have gotten on great within the School. The Job Role:

  • Supporting the delivery of P-Scales and the EYFS curriculum for children aged 4 – 11 year olds and have a range of Special Educational Needs
  • The School has 15 classes, with each class having between 4 and 8 children, 1 class teacher and up to 4 Teaching Assistants, so you may be rewuired to work across a range of classes
  • Supporting children with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism; both verbal and non-verbal, physical disabilities; including wheelchair bound and those requiring hydrotherapy sessions, behavioural difficulties and severe learning difficulties, with most students working from an individualised curriculum
  • Working alongside Teachers, Social Workers and Educational Psychologists to ensure the needs of all children are met
  • Day to Day or Long Term placements available
  • Monday to Friday, Term Time Only; 0830-1600 working hours
  • Competitive rates of pay from GBP65.00 to GBP75.00 per day

Ideal Care Assistant Requirements:

  • Have experience of working with Children or Adults with Special Needs in a Care-based position
  • Hold recognised UK Health and Social Care qualifications or similar 
  • Have knowledge and understanding of the different social, cultural and physical needs of pupils
  • Have an interest in how young people learn and behave
  • Provide appropriate role models of behaviour in the sessions
  • Really care about vulnerable people and in particular those who find learning and managing their behaviour difficulties 
  • Be well organised and be able to plan effectively and be adaptable to cope with any situation
