A hearing impaired school is seeking a new High Level Teaching Assistant to work in a class of 6 pupils.

The position is to start immediately, on a full time basis. If you know British Sign Language Level 3 and want to work with children with SEMH then please apply below.

The Role:

The School supports secondary school pupils with severe and profound deafness, with social, emotional mental health. It is well equip to support pupils and their SEN needs. The children use Phonak, MLXi and Radio Aids. They are used together with hearing aids or cochlear implants.

You will work as a HLTA in a classroom of year 8 and year 9 pupils.

The school have requested somebody who has a background in psychology as the pupils have been diagnosed with some form of SEMH.

This is a full time role, to start at 8:45am to 4pm, Monday to Thursday. The working hours for Friday are 8:45 - 3:30pm.

The school are looking to interview potential candidates 23rd April 2019.

You will work with the following tools:

  • Visual stimulus
  • Computers

Role based in South London


  • BSL Level 2 minimum
  • Background in education / SEN support
  • Experience working in a Primary and/or Secondary environment
  • Confidence working with children who have various levels of hearing impairments.
  • Skilled in supporting children in both mainstream and SEN.
  • Able to use communication aids proficiently to enhance the children's learning experience
