A Secondary Pupil Referral Unit in Stockport wish to hire a full time behaviour mentor for an immediate start. The successful applicant working as a behaviour mentor will join a supportive staff team and undertake regular training; there is an opportunity for this to become a permanent position. Teaching Personnel Manchester SEN branch work in partnership with this school based in Stockport to cater for all of their staffing needs.
The school caters for secondary aged children aged 11-16 who struggle to access education due to their learning needs, specifically you will support children with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. The role as a behaviour mentor will include undertaking structured and agreed learning activities/programmes, both on a 1-2-1 and small group basis, taking into consideration pupil learning styles.
Highlights of this Behaviour mentor opportunity include;

- Pay to reflect your experience, earn up to £10 per hour (£60 - £70 per day)

- To be considered for the Behaviour Mentor position you will ideally be/have;
- Teaching Personnel's Behaviour Mentors work with pupils who are achieving below a mainstream schools expectation, mainly for low attendance and behaviour. Pupils may be at risk of exclusion, or have been temporarily been excluded already. The role of behaviour mentor will be working alongside key school staff to reduce levels of unauthorised absence and improve attendance and behaviour. Our staff build productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model.
- Prior experience working with Special Educational Needs
- Experience supporting or assisting children with behaviour aged 11-16
- The ability to develop good relationships with pupils
- Safeguarding knowledge or training , level 1 or
Mentors challenge and motivate, promoting and reinforcing self-esteem alongside providing levels of individual pastoral support to pupils.
