Behavioural support assistant

Full-Time Teaching Assistant – PRU (Secondary) | Sherborne | 8:30am–3:30pm

We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a highly supportive Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Sherborne.

This is a full-time role supporting secondary-aged pupils who have been permanently excluded or are at risk of exclusion. The school provides a nurturing and creative environment where students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning, build confidence, and work towards positive futures.

The Role:

• Supporting students with a range of social, emotional, and behavioural needs (SEMH)

• Working closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored support

• Building strong, trusting relationships with pupils

• Assisting in both classroom learning and alternative/creative activities

• Promoting positive behaviour and engagement

We Are Looking For Someone Who:

• Has experience working with secondary-aged pupils (ideally within SEN or PRU settings)

• Is calm, patient, and resilient

• Can build rapport with pupils who may have had challenging educational experiences

• Is proactive and adaptable in their approach

• Has a genuine passion for supporting young people

Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm (full-time)
