Actual Annual Salary: £12,573.13 - £13,706.37
Contract: 21.87 hours per week, term time only, permanent

We are looking for compassionate and reliable Night Support Workers to join our dedicated team at a specialist residential college in the Cranborne area. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people aged 16–25 with additional needs within a safe, structured, and nurturing residential environment.
As a residential college, our learners live on site during term time. Night Support Workers play a vital role in ensuring students feel safe, supported, and cared for throughout the night.
This rota offers an excellent work-life balance with regular extended time off.
About the Role:
Students have a range of Special Educational Needs, which may include Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH), Speech and Language needs, and associated learning difficulties. A calm, patient, and empathetic approach is essential.
Following a handover from our day team, you’ll support students with their evening routine. You will mentor and support young people in their evening activities, sports, or hobbies both on and off site and ensure they settle for night. This will be with the use of verbal and visual prompting dependent on the need of the young person.
You’ll provide a key liaison point for parents and carers and ensure all health/medical needs are looked after throughout the night. You will be the listening ear and emotional support for young people to talk to after a busy day.
The key to this role will be your ability to participate and to motivate whilst ensuring our students develop their own independent living skills.
Essential Requirements:
- A caring and resilient individual with a genuine desire to support young people.
- Ability to remain alert and responsive during night shifts.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle – the college is located in a rural area and is not accessible via public transport.
- Previous experience in care or SEN settings is desirable but not essential — full training will be provided.
In return, you will join a supportive and professional team, receive comprehensive training, and have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people aged 16–25.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
