Learning Support Assistant
Job description
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to join our team working within alternative provision settings. This role is ideal for individuals who are resilient, patient, and committed to supporting pupils who may face social, emotional, behavioural, or additional learning needs.
About the role:
- Supporting students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups
- Assisting with learning activities, behaviour regulation, and emotional support
- Helping young people re-engage with education in a positive, nurturing environment
- Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals
- Creating a safe, structured, and encouraging learning atmosphere
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, or similar)
- Is calm, empathetic, and confident in managing challenging behaviour
- Understands SEND, SEMH, trauma-informed practice, or alternative education
- Is reliable, adaptable, and committed to safeguarding and inclusion
- Holds relevant qualifications or is willing to work towards them (desirable, not essential)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
