Cover Supervisor – Specialist Alternative Provision

We are looking to appoint a dependable and adaptable Cover Supervisor to join a specialist learning provision in Dorset. You will play a key role in ensuring stability and continuity when teaching staff are unavailable, helping pupils remain engaged, focused, and supported throughout the school day.
This provision supports young people who may have faced barriers within mainstream settings. With smaller class sizes and a strong emphasis on relationships, routine, and restorative practice, the setting offers a nurturing and structured environment where pupils can rebuild confidence and re-engage with learning.
The Role
As Cover Supervisor, you will:
- Oversee lessons during short-term staff absence
- Deliver set work and maintain pupils’ engagement with learning
- Uphold clear expectations around behaviour and conduct
- Foster a calm, purposeful, and respectful atmosphere
- Provide pastoral support and encourage positive choices
- Liaise closely with teaching and support colleagues to ensure consistency
About You
We are seeking someone who:
- Is confident leading groups of young people
- Demonstrates patience, fairness, and emotional resilience
- Builds strong, professional relationships with pupils
- Can think quickly and adapt to changing situations
- Has previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, HLTA or Tutor

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
