An opportunity has arisen for a passionate individual who has a drive to support young people that come from extremely vulnerable and disadvantaged backgrounds. Our partnering school is looking for a pro-active individual to join their team as a Behaviour Support Worker.

Our client school is an independent special school for boys and girls aged 5 - 19. The school caters for students with a wide range of needs, predominantly with a diagnosis of Social, Emotional Mental Health (SEMH). As a behaviour support worker, you will be supporting all students that have an Education, Health and Care Plan access broad and balanced curriculum. While the school day differs from day to day, the school follow the national curriculum and the majority of students take GCSE's at the end of Year 11.

Due to the nature of the students that this school caters for, they have a strong personal, social health education team to ensure that the pupils' well being is catered for in all aspects of the school day. They are committed to ensuring that each student's needs are met which is reflected in the sizes of each class. You will be supporting between six and eight pupils in a class alongside a specialist teacher and a teaching assistant. As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will be supporting in small groups or on a 1:1 basis.

As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will be supporting students with their academic, person and social development. The role is demanding and challenging but extremely rewarding. You will be supporting learners with Social, Emotional and Mental Health and will be required to take a reflexive approach to learners, their learning and needs and be able to work creatively and proactively. Emotional resilience and an ability to engage with learners whom have had a negative experience of education is a must, ideally you will have experience working in a similar environment.
