Behaviour support teaching assistant job in Kidbrooke

Job description

A small, alternative provision to mainstream education in the Kidbrooke area is looking for a member of support staff to start work with them as soon as possible. If you are looking for teaching assistant work in this area, please get in touch!

The provision caters for students who have not been able to cope in mainstream education for a variety of reasons, including those who have autism and those who have very challenging behaviour. The position available at the moment is for a teaching assistant to work 1:1 with a boy in year 6, who has been excluded from a mainstream school due to his behaviour.

This is a temporary contract for a period of 12 weeks to begin with, although the student may spend further time at this provision, dependent on his progress over the first 12 weeks.

You will be required to provide 1:1 support for this child, developing his academic learning as well as his social skills and life skills. You must be able to relate to the boy and be able to inspire him and challenge him to make progress. You must also be confident to deal with challenging behaviour at times - Team Teach training or any equivalent type of restraint training is extremely sought after.

The Head Teacher is happy to interview and trial potential candidates. If you would like further information, or to register with Teaching Personnel and be put forward for this position or other similar positions in the area, contact Louise in the London Bridge office, using the details provided.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
