Behaviour Support Coordinator

ÂŁ20,245-ÂŁ22,785 FTE (Actual Salary ÂŁ17,317-ÂŁ19,490)

37 hours per week, term-time only

Teaching Personnel are working with one of our partner schools in Odiham to provide them with a Behaviour Support Coordinator. A new opportunity has arisen following a review of the current procedures that they follow to support classroom teachers in maintaining a calm and purposeful learning environment. They have an established 'On call' system for those occasions when a student needs to be removed from a lesson for a short period of time.

The purpose of this newly created role is to support the removal of the barriers which prevent students from making positive choices about their behaviour in and out of lessons. The post holder will support students to make the changes required to facilitate greater engagement in their learning, to improve achievement and to therefore reduce their risk of exclusion.

You will work closely with the Leadership Team, Heads of Year, Assistant Heads of Year, SENDCO and Inclusion Team to develop a coordinated approach to supporting students who demonstrate challenging behaviour that negatively affects their ability to learn. The role will involve daily supervision of students in our behaviour support room 'The Edge', ensuring that the rules and expectations of the room are adhered to.

The successful candidate will be able to make their mark and make a real difference in the lives of young people to help them engage fully in school life. The role includes establishing firm routines; dealing with issues as they arise; helping students to reflect on how they could have handled a situation differently; sourcing work from class teachers for students and ensuring it is returned to the teacher; supervising students whilst they work; and helping them to access the work where appropriate; communicating and meeting with parents and carers and helping to establish and implement individual behaviour plans in collaboration with the SENDCO and Heads of Year.

The post holder will also facilitate restorative meetings or delegate this to the most appropriate member of staff. Regular tasks will include reporting to the Heads of Year / Leadership Team at the end of the day on the work and behaviour of students in the "Edge"; monitoring callouts; and completing all necessary paperwork for students in order to facilitate early interventions.

They are looking to appoint someone who is committed to raising standards and who is passionate about all students being given the tools they need in order to meet the

expectations they have of them; for them to behave responsibly within their school community and to engage effectively with their learning. A positive attitude and calm manner with an understanding of how to get the best out of every individual student is vital. You will be an excellent communicator, resilient, have strong behaviour management skills and be able to work independently or within a team.
