Behaviour Support Assistant
Are you a classroom assistant looking for progression in your role? Do you have experience working vulnerable young people?
Join a brand new central Manchester secondary school looking to hire a Behaviour Support Assistant on a temporary basis for the summer term, commencing after easter. The successful candidate will support young people displaying challenging behaviour in the classroom, offering academic intervention and pastoral support to promote positive behaviour and raise academic attainment. BSA’s will work with regular classroom teachers during lessons to help with behaviour management and ensure vulnerable students receive the support they need during lessons.
BSA’s will also take part in and organise small group and 1-1 support sessions alongside SEN coordinators and other members of school senior leadership, whereby academic intervention and pastoral support will be provided to students struggling to adhere to school behaviour policies. These workshops will help raise student self-esteem, promote positive behaviour and help them develop key social and practical skills. BSA’s will always be working towards being a positive and professional role model for the students they support and will need to form productive working relationships.
The successful candidate will join a brand new and modern secondary school in south Manchester who value life skills and sending their students out into the world equipped with the skills and knowledge they need. The new BSA will play a key role in equipping vulnerable students with the confidence and key skills to succeed and achieve their potential.
Some highlights of this position include:
- Supporting behaviour management in classroom scenarios alongside regular classroom teachers
- Providing support to vulnerable students and students displaying challenging behaviour in small group and 1-1 sessions
- Supporting students with academic intervention and pastoral support, as well as key skills workshops to raise confidence and inclusion
- Keeping parents and carers up to date on academic performance and behaviour, updating them on progress and any concerns
- Full time and temporary position for 1 term commencing after Easter
- Weekly wages of up to GBP350 a week
- Brand new secondary school with a vision to provide a future for all
Applications are encouraged from candidates with experience working with secondary school students, preferably in secondary schools but candidates with experience in other capacities with transferable skills such as mentoring, youth work, support work, sports coaching, tutoring etc are also encouraged to apply. Candidates will also need to provide suitable employment references and will need to apply for a Child Workforce DBS certificate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
