Behaviour Mentor role in a Primary school (Cardiff CF3)

We are currently looking to recruit a Learning Support Assistant/Behaviour Mentor to join a friendly and supportive team in one of our great mainstream Primary schools in Cardiff (CF3), to work one-to-one and with small groups, providing classroom based & extra curricular support to children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties.
The Ideal Candidate :
You must be willing to provide help and support to children with Autism, Emotional and Behavioural Disorder, Social and Emotional Mental Health or Global Delay. Your role will consist in assisting the class teacher(s) with children in need of additional support mainly in core subjects, but also helping out with their integration and emotional support. Any certificates or qualifications related to Special Needs and/or Education in general along with experience working in an educational setting (from Early Years to Year 6) are preferable but not compulsory.
This position is well suited for a creative, compassionate, caring and patient candidate with a good behaviour management, willing to develop their knowledge in the education and special needs sector. We highly recommend for graduates who are willing to make a career in education to apply. The role is a full time and long term position (Monday to Friday, school hours) to start in September.

- East Cardiff (CF3)
- Easily accessible on public transports and on-site parking available
- Strong and Reliable SLT, very much focused on staff involvement and well-being and on behaviour management techniques
- High number of Children with disadvantaged backgrounds and/or nurture needs
- Excellent opportunities for career progression and development
- Permanent contracts available for the right candidate(s)
Applicants must :
- Have the legal right to work in the UK
- Hold a Child Workforce Only DBS registered on the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one - full assistance provided)
- Be registered with the Education Workforce Council (compulsory requirement in Wales) - please note that if you are living in England, you can still register with the EWC which will give you the opportunity to work on both sides of the border
- Provide two professional or character references
- Be available to interview and/or trial asap
- Be available to start on short notice
- Be living in Cardiff and/or have plans to move to Cardiff in the near future and/or be willing to travel to Cardiff
