Job title: Teaching Assistant/ Behaviour Support

Service: Inclusion/Behaviour Support

Responsible to

Head of the Inclusion Service

Responsibility.

To assist the Secondary and Primary Inclusion Service in providing appropriate support interventions to pupils with additional needs within the mainstream school setting. The pupils require individual learning/behavioural programmes and includes transition of pupils to a specialist behaviour provision.

General duties and main responsibilities:

  • To work under the direction of the Specialist Teachers/Practitioners and Head of Inclusion in assisting them to develop, deliver, manage and support in school
  • To lead and support teaching assistants in the delivery of individual programmes
  • To contribute to the development of the Secondary/Primary Support Team and Inclusion Service through the support of a shared vision.

The Right Staff

  • You must be able to support and encourage pupils to develop both academically and socially. Unparalleled behaviour management skills are a must. If you have a background in Youth Work, Psychology, Sports (coaching), Art and Design and Music then this role is ideal for you.
  • The right person is one who has extensive experience in supporting pupils with SEN. This includes SEMH, ADHD and ASC.
  • Is punctual, proactive and energetic. It is essential that you are always on time. A happy and approachable attitude mean you can put pupils in the best mood and encourage them to learn.
  • You will build a connection with the children, learn very quickly what they need supporting on, and tailor your support according to this information.
  • You will have the right training on care; Behaviour Management and Safeguarding.
