ASC Support Assistant required to support a child 1:1 in the Reception class within Burnley Primary School (BB10)
Supporting children with Autism is a necessity to undertake this role

Teaching Personnel are actively looking to recruit a teaching assistant to support Autism support 1:1 with a child in a Reception class in Burnley (BB10). With this in mind, it is essential you have worked either on a voluntary/temporary or on a permanent basis in a primary school setting before and have a passion to work on a 1:1 basis with ‘challenging/vulnerable’ children. The child was referred to the school over the summer holidays and comes with an educational health care plan for their former nursery. The child requires 1:1 support throughout the school day to enable them to access the curriculum at their level, socialise with other pupils and improve their speech and language ability. The role will entail completing a handover with the child’s parents in the morning, supporting during the morning & afternoon sessions, then handing over to the child’s parent at the end of the school day. The school SENCO and Head teacher have agreed the support must be 1:1 but don’t want someone ‘like a shadow’ to the child. This will entail ‘distance care’.
The role will be to work in line with the school-working hours, which are 8:30 – 15:45 per day. The Head teacher has stressed that she would like someone preferably experienced in working with special educational needs and a Level 2 or 3 qualification is a necessity. The role has the potential to be long term and permanent. The child’s parent are adamant they want their child to remain in a mainstream primary school which could lead to a permanent contract.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
