Experienced SEN teaching assistant required to work at a specialist school in Sheffield

  • Experienced with SEN and ASC required
  • CPD opportunities available incl. Team Teach and Moving and Handling
  • Negotiable rates of pay ranging between £55 - £65 per day

We are particularly looking for teaching assistants who have an interest in Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and are keen to work with pupils with ASC at specialist secondary school in Sheffield.

The school's aim is to provide an inclusive vibrant environment where a holistic approach to learning is incorporated to ensure parents/carers, teachers and support staff work effectively to support a variety of learning opportunities and where the pupils can fulfil their potential, grow in confidence and above all, be happy. They encourage openly the pupils to develop a sense of pride, care and sensitivity towards themselves, each other and the school.

Initially we would like you to be flexible and happy to begin short term supply work whilst we look for an ideal long term role for you. You will be an engaging, empathetic and creative individual with a passion to assist children with Autism to access the curriculum as fully as possible.

Experience in a school is desired but not essential as we also look for experience in areas such as social care and youth work. Particular personal or professional experience of supporting individuals with Autism is highly desirable as is an understanding of the complexities related to the behaviour in this condition.

A Team Teach qualification or other Intervention training would be an advantage but again is not essential as we have the facility to be able to offer training in this.

Teaching Personnel are committed the safeguarding and well-being of children. All candidates applying to posts through Teaching Personnel must undertake or have undertaken an Enhanced Disclosure via the Disclosure and Barring Service.

If you are interested in this role please call Sarah Franks your SEN specialist on 0113 224 0234 or email me on sarah.franks@teachingpersonnel.com
