We are currently looking for teaching assistant’s to work with students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). The position’s are within an SEN School and would be challenging but highly rewarding roles. Particular personal or professional experience of supporting individuals with ASC is highly desirable, such as an understanding of the complexities related to this condition. The ideal person would have a good knowledge of teaching and behaviour strategies relevant to ASC.
The position will be working at a school close to Colchester. The school has 3 separate sites, a main education setting for students aged between 5 and 16 years, a further education site for students aged 16 – 19 years and they also have a residential site. The school purely caters for children with Autism.
Candidates who are familiar with PEC’s, TEACCH system, signing (Makaton/BSL/sign-a-long) are strongly encouraged to apply as these skills will be very relevant to the role. A Team Teach qualification or relevant moving and handling experience would be beneficial but not essential. Teaching Personnel are also able to provide a range of training; including Team Teach, Introduction to Autism and Moving and Handling.
