Job description

A GOOD Catholic Blackburn Primary School, located near to transport links

'Challenging' catchment area which requires strong behaviour management and a firm but fair approach to management

Level 2 Teaching Assistant award or above qualification is required (degrees and equivalent qualifications are accepted)

I am currently seeking a L2 qualified Teaching Assistant to work in a Blackburn Primary School. The School is located ten minutes from the town centre and commutable by car and bus, or by bike if you fancy it? The Head teacher is keen to promote the Catholic faith in school and so you must be able to support this with confidence and with the correct subject knowledge. The role will start in the third week in September and run for the first term on a supply basis; the school are then looking to appoint permanently through their own internal recruitment process.

The working hours will be 9-1530 with ½ welfare cover. The school is currently graded as GOOD by Ofsted and also holds a GOOD RE inspection. The Head teacher has implemented a strong and consistent behaviour policy which the children respond to really well. It is therefore important that if you are successful, that you are able to fit into the team and implement the policy effectively.

In the past, the school have used Teaching Personnel and taken staff on to permanent contracts. This could be an excellent opportunity which could lead to a full time contract. This won't come without the right attitude in school though. You must be enthusiastic and passionate about raising standards in school and be able to build strong working relationships with children, staff and parents. As the school falls in a socially deprived area of Blackburn, you will need to be able to liaise with a variety of individuals, some who may be aggressive!

Just a reminder, there is no cost or admin fee to join Teaching Personnel in order to apply for this role or any other. You will be expected to pay for a DBS on the update service and there will be relevant safeguarding checks through the registration process.

If you are interested then please do not hesitate to contact me in the office on 01772 842154.
