Job description

I am currently looking to recruit an SEN teaching assistant for a short term placement within the Greenwich area. You will be providing 1:1 support for a child in year 2, who has social, emotional and mental health difficulties. He is also undergoing testing for autism.

This primary school is looking for a teaching assistant who has experience of supporting children with behavioural difficulties and can use various strategies to de-escalate negative reactions to academic and social situations that the child finds hard to manage.

You must:

  • Be available full time Monday - Friday from 08:30am to 15:30pm for a period of 6 weeks, beginning after Easter 2019
  • Be able to travel to Greenwich for work
  • Have a child workforce DBS on the update service, or be willing to complete a new one asap
  • Have experience of working with children, preferably including those with behavioural needs or autism
  • Knowledge of PECS or Makaton is desirable but not essential
  • Be able to provide reference details for your two most recent employers

You will be put forward to do a trial day at this school once registered with Teaching Personnel, and must have a DBS in order to do this. If you do not have one on the update service already, you will be required to make a new application and register it online.
