Are you experienced supporting children through their transition from a specialist behaviour setting to a mainstream classroom? If so, we would love to hear from you. We are supporting a primary school who have a KS1 child due to join them after February half term, who will need additional support. The pupil in question is transitioning back into mainstream following a term within an alternative provision. You will be responsible for providing the pupil with a friendly and nurturing environment, a consistent face within school and most importantly, giving them stable support as they reintegrate back into a mainstream classroom.
The successful applicant will have:
- At least one year of experience supporting primary aged pupils with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs
- Experience working within a specialist behavioural setting (desirable but not essential)
- A nurturing and calm approach to supporting children
- A commitment to providing a stable atmosphere for a pupil from a disadvantaged background
- Confidence using Team Teach training (training can be provided if you don't already hold a valid certificate)
The role:
- You will initially work on a reduced timetable of 8:45am to 12pm, Monday to Thursday. The intention is for the pupil to go back up to full-time as soon as possible so this role should provide you with hours from 8:45am to 3:15pm after the first half term. There may be opportunities to cover additional shifts within other classes before the role becomes full-time.
- You will work closely with the SENCO to establish a routine that suits the needs of the pupil while also fitting in with the class timetable
- You will be instrumental in the reviewing of progress and in planning for the term
- You will work collaboratively with the KS1 team to support all pupils as well as the student in your 1:1 care
