Our client school located in Bedlington, wish to appoint a teaching assistant with previous youth work experience, to support pupils aged 11-16.
- Full time Teaching Assistant position, immediate start.
- £50 - £60 per day depending upon previous experiences
- Fantastic opportunity to enhance future Teacher training applications
- Supporting students in small groups and on a 1:1 basis
- Working with disengaged learners aged between 11 - 18
The successful Teaching Assistant will support students in class across the subject areas, and deliver targeted interventions to students on a 1:1 basis during lessons and break times. Further to this, the appointed Youth Work Teaching Assistant will have the opportunity to cover lessons in the absence of the class teacher, which is great experience of classroom and behaviour management. Due to some of the students displaying challenging behaviour, the role may also involve working closely with pupils who have been withdrawn from lessons.
The school is located in Bedlington and is accessible by all main roads around Newcastle and also by public transport. It is a faith school therefore an individual familiar with the Catholic ethos would be desired however not essential; they currently have over 1500 pupils on roll, making the School slightly larger than average. The school have expressed that the appointed Teaching Assistant has previous experience of working with students aged 11 - 16 who display challenging behaviour.
