Youth Worker
Job description
Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with schools and alternative provisions in the Wigan area to recruit a dedicated Youth Worker to support students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to work in an educational setting, supporting students aged [insert age range] who may be at risk of exclusion or disengagement from mainstream education.
The Role:
As a Youth Worker in a school or alternative provision, you will play a key role in:

Supporting students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups to help with behaviour, engagement and emotional wellbeing
-
Building positive relationships and acting as a trusted mentor and role model
-
Supporting students with self-esteem, motivation, and conflict resolution
-
Collaborating with teachers, SEN staff and external agencies to ensure consistent support
-
Creating a safe, supportive environment where students feel heard and respected
Ideal Candidate:
-
Experience working with young people in youth work, mentoring, coaching, or education
-
A calm, confident, and resilient approach to supporting challenging behaviour
-
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships
-
Passionate about making a positive impact on vulnerable or at-risk young people
-
Background in youth work, psychology, sports coaching, or community work is desirable
-
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply for one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
