A college based in Uxbridge, Hillingdon providing learning and social opportunities to young adults across the borough is looking to appoint youth workers, outreach workers or those interested in supporting young adults in education.
The role is to start from Monday 6th January 2020 working Monday to Thursday 8:45 – 4:30pm daily.
This role involves working 1:1 and in small groups with vulnerable young adults with social, emotional, mental health and complex needs including autism, physical disabilities and speech difficulties. You will be expected to support through in class learning and learning within the local community such as shopping trips, employment workshops, library visits, social support meetings, gym and fitness.
Due to the behavioural, developmental and social needs of these young adults they may present behaviours that may challenge, need support with personal care and/or moving and handling. Having restraint/de-escalation training such as ‘Team Teach’, ‘MAPA’ or ‘PRICE’ is ideal but all applicants will are welcome to apply.
A valid Child and Adult DBS registered on the update subscription service would be vital so having or being able to apply for a Child and Adult DBS is required to fulfil this role.
