Year 4 Teacher

Date posted : 17/01/20
Dependent on experience

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

Teaching Personnel have been contacted by a client school who require a Year 4 teacher on a full-time until the Easter holiday. If you fulfil the requirements below, then read on to find out more about the role!

  • QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
  • Experience teaching in KS2
  • Able to travel to Harrogate
  • Free to start in January

The school require a teacher who can start after the February half-term. The current class teacher is currently off on long-term illness until Easter, and whilst the school can cover internally for the time being they would prefer one teacher in the role to free up the Assistant Head’s timetable. There is a chance that the sick note could be extended, but this would only become clear towards the Easter break. The school is 1 form entry so relatively small in size, so the school will require someone with some experience of teaching a KS2 class as they will need to be independent-minded without the support of another Year 4 teacher. PPA time will be allocated as per any class teacher role, and there will be a dedicated Teaching Assistant in the class at all times who has been at the school for many years so will be able to provide strong support when needed.

The role

Behaviour at the school is of a very good standard across the board, so the school are picking a candidate primarily on their teaching ability and style rather than behaviour management. The school encourage a calm approach to de-escalate the rare instances of bad behaviour. As well as teaching style, the Head wants someone who is experienced and knowledgeable in KS2 teaching, specifically Year 4. This is because the school has identified a trend in recent years of a drop-off in lower KS2 year groups, so are keen to address this by appointing a lower KS2 specialist.

How do I apply?

If you fulfil the requirements for this role, then we invite you to apply by sending an up-to-date CV detailing your previous roles and the responsibilities that came with them. The head wants to organise trial days and interviews over the next few weeks of term in January to see the candidates up close, and ideally wants someone appointed by the end of the month. We will liaise with the school to organise these interviews and trials.

Working through Teaching Personnel:

In this role, you will be paid a daily rate on a weekly basis by Teaching Personnel. The daily rate of pay will be negotiated once the school has selected a candidate they would like to appoint, and we will handle these negotiations as well as any issues relating to vetting, HR, absence on your behalf. Should the school want to keep you past the end of the academic year, then that will be through a permanent contract with the school arranged independently of Teaching Personnel.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later

Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We offer all our registered candidates FREE child protection and prevent duty training. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
