Year 3 Teaching Assistant - Primary School in Blackburn

Experience in KS2 is essential

A primary school located in the centre of Blackburn have contacted Teaching Personnel as they require a Year 3 Teaching Assistant. The role would be starting in September 2020 until July 2021 with a view to the position becoming permanent. The position is available due to a member of staff taking early retirement within school. You would be needed on a full-time basis Monday – Friday (8.30am - 3.30pm).

The role consists of working in the classroom supporting children who are working towards age related expectations in the class as well as delivering interventions to a small group of children. The interventions would be mainly focused on gaps in the pupils’ English and Maths learning. The successful candidate would be expected to provide quality support in line with the KS2 Curriculum framework, specifically targeting Maths, Reading and Writing skills.  

There are a high number of children within the Year 3 class with additional needs. The Head Teacher has highlighted that having appropriate support in place is crucial therefore there is already two additional members of staff in the class. There is already a general teaching assistant who supports the class teacher on a full time basis as well as a support assistant working on a 1:1 basis with a child who has speech and language needs.

Job Type: Full time

Rate of pay: GBP10.00 - GBP10.50 per day

Start date: September 2020

End date: July 2021 - view to the position becoming permanent

Requirements:

- Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or above)

- Minimum of 6 months experience in a primary school setting

- Recent experience in Key Stage 2
