Year 3 Teacher - Start after October half term.

The Board of Governors at a small primary school in Blackburn are seeking to appoint a Year 3 Teacher to cover a temporary staffing absence after October half term. The Governors have specified that they will be working with Teaching Personnel and the Head teacher in school in order to source the most suitable candidate. The role will commence from the first week in November and continue for at least one term. The school are currently graded as GOOD which allows them to see options both experienced and Newly Qualified. It is important that the applying candidates for this temporary position will be expected to meet with the Head teacher and other members of the SLT in order to ascertain their suitability. It is a necessity for the applying candidates to have recent school based experience working in a KS2 class and it is essential that you are able to use prior experience to deliver a high quality lesson in preparation for the final decision made by the school.

The children who attend school are from a mixed catchment area; the local community is classed as one of the most socially deprived in the local area and so the school are always keen to build good relationships with the community in order to give the children the best chance in school. The Head teacher who took up the role three years ago has taken the school from Requires Improvement to Good as well as an Outstanding Diocese inspection. As a faith school, the team of staff are very supportive of new people who join and a full new starter induction is completed in the first week.

This is an important appointment as Year 3 is vital in the transition from Infant to Juniors and so the Head teacher is taking the recruitment process very seriously, so I will be expecting to see a cover letter and up to date CV in application for the role.

The class is a full 30 intake with a good mix of boys and girls in the class. There are some children in the class who receive additional support through Local Authority funding. The needs of the children range from; Autism Spectrum; ADHD and Behavioural Needs; Specific Learning Needs. It is therefore important that as the class teacher you are able to prepare, plan and deliver the Curriculum tailored towards children of differing abilities. Behaviour is considered to be good in school but there may be certain children who are disruptive and may need sanctions and rewards implemented in line with the behaviour policy to ensure all the children are safe and stimulated in the class.

The expected pay will be from£90-130 per day.

The school is located in the BB2 postcode area.

The school is graded GOOD by Ofsted.

The school is connected to a local Diocese.

This role will commence from the first week in November and continue for at least a term.

The role is full time school working hours- You will be expected to work 6.5 hours per day.
