Halton 'Good' Primary School requires Year 3 Class Teacher - January start

Experience in KS2 essential

Cover due to start in January

Expected to last 6 months

A school that is in a local cluster, situated in Halton have approached Teaching Personnel on a number of occasions this year in order to source teachers to work on a long term basis in their school. Currently, the school are in need of a teacher who can work from January 2019 to work in the Year 3 class. The role will be to work on a full time basis, five days a week.

There is a big emphasis on the development of curriculum coverage, particularly core subjects. With this, the Head teacher is keen to maintain standards with regular observations as well as book and planning scrutiny. You will be expected to undertake a number of duties such as planning, monitoring and assessment. Experience in teaching the KS2 curriculum, including Phonics is essential. The school use Letters and Sounds alongside Jolly Phonics to support the teaching of Phonics. Read, Write Inc is used as an intervention in KS1 and KS2. All these elements have helped support the pass rate of Phonics to be in line with the national expectation. The Head teacher is looking for someone who is flexible and hard working.

The majority of the children are from socially deprived backgrounds. There are a high number of Pupil Premium pupils in this school. Behaviour is generally good in school, the Head teacher and SLT consistently monitor children. You will be expected to use the behaviour policy effectively and inform SLT if there are any issues or concerns. You will need a nurturing yet firm personality in order to provide a safe and happy environment for the children.

The position is expected to last 6 months on a temporary basis with a view to become permanent of September 2019. QTS status, with experience in KS2 and a track record of raising standards is required.
