We at Teaching Personnel are looking for a Year 1 teacher who can work from January until the end of the year on a part-time basis for a client school in HG1! Get in touch with us about the role if you can fill the following requirements of the role…
- QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
- Classroom experience in Year 1
- Able to travel to Harrogate
- Available to start in January
The role will begin on the 1st day back after the Christmas holidays on 6th January until the end of term in July 2020. The role is teaching a Year 1 class on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for the full day every week. As the current class teacher is off on maternity leave the school have organised a job sharing arrangement, where the Deputy Head will teach the class on Thursday and Friday every week. The school is based near Harrogate town centre and is easily commutable by car or public transport; it is also relatively small in size as it is only 1 form entry throughout the school from Reception to Year 6. The Headteacher has been at the school for 10 years, in which time they have gone from GOOD to OUTSTANDING in their Ofsted inspections, of which the last one was 2016. The Head has achieved this progress by maintaining very high behavioural standards in the school, meaning that the working environment for teachers is very pleasant and manageable. The staff in the school will provide a strong support base for any new arrival, as a large amount of the staff have been at the school for a number of years. Support will also be provided by the Deputy Head who the job share will take place with, as she is a very experienced KS1 teacher so can provide support and assistance throughout.
What the SLT are looking for…
The main priority with this appointment from the school’s perspective is to get someone with experience of teaching Year 1 Phonics, as this is the primary way the progress of the children in this year group are tracked. The school currently use the Jolly Phonics programme, so any experience specifically with this programme would of course be incredibly valuable to the school, although experience with any equivalent programme would also be very useful. Other than this, the school are open-minded about who they would consider for the role, and are happy to accept NQTs as well as more experienced teachers for the role provided they have some experience of Phonics. As the school is Outstanding, maintaining high results and particularly boosting the attainment of the lowest achieving children is very important to the school. Therefore, any evidence of strong progress levels and boosting attainment in assessed year groups would also be well received by the SLT.
How do I apply though Teaching Personnel…
If you think this role could be for you, then we ask that you apply by submitting an up-to-date CV that details your previous roles and the responsibilities that came with it. Should we and the school consider you suitable for the role, then you will be aske into the school for an interview and trial morning/afternoon before the Christmas holidays.
Working through Teaching Personnel…
In this role, you will be paid a daily rate on a weekly basis by Teaching Personnel. The daily rate of pay will be negotiated once the school has selected a candidate they would like to appoint, and we will handle these negotiations as well as any issues relating to vetting, HR, absence on your behalf.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
