Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit a Welsh Primary School Teacher for a Maternity Cover position in a mixed Reception/Nursery class in Newport. The role is likely to continue until the summer term.
Applications are invited from keen and energetic candidates to join a team of people to work in Foundation Phase Primary Department. The post will offer exciting opportunities for a candidate wishing to experience teaching in a progressive, successful and inclusive school.
The successful candidate will have high expectations, a keen interest in learning and teaching and clear strategies for fostering pupils' interest and achievement. The ability to work effectively as part of a team will be essential and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to extra-curricular activities.

Start date: Monday 12th October 2020
Position: Nursery/Reception Teacher
Sector: Welsh Medium Primary
When: Monday to Friday
Pay: GBP127.72-GBP184.32 depending, including contributions to National Insurance, Pension.
Vetting
In order to be considered for this role, you will need:
- To hold a Qualified Teacher Status;
- Possess an Enhanced Child Only DBS that is on the Update Service;
- Register with the Education Workforce Council as a School Teacher;
- Provide two Education based references within the last 6 years;
- To be able to converse through the medium of welsh both orally and in writing.
About the school
The school is on the outskirts of the city of Newport. There are over 200 pupils in the school. Welsh is the main teaching and learning and although very few come from welsh speaking backgrounds, all pupils are expected to be fluent in Welsh and English by the end of key stage 2. The school has 9 classes including one nursery class.
A small percentage of pupils are eligible for free school meals, which is below the national average.
The school was a ‘curriculum pioneer school’ which means it worked with the Welsh Government and other schools to develop a pilot of a new curriculum for Wales which was introduced last year.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
