Pay Rate: £89.38 per day
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Full Academic Year from Jan 2026

Teaching Personnel is seeking a resilient and dedicated Unqualified SEN Teaching Assistant professional to join a specialist school in Ystrad Mynach, working with pupils aged 3–19. This is a full-time hands-on, rewarding role where every day brings the chance to make a real impact on a child’s learning and personal development.
You’ll be working 1:1 with pupils, helping them access the curriculum and supporting their social, emotional, and behavioural development. The ideal candidate is patient, adaptable, and confident in building positive relationships, with the ability to stay calm under pressure and apply effective strategies to manage challenging situations. Who We’re Looking For
We are seeking a compassionate and resilient individual with a patient and understanding approach. The ideal candidate will:
- Have experience supporting children or young people with SEN and challenging behaviours (desirable)
- Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual pupil needs
- Aged 18 or over
- Use effective strategies to manage and de-escalate behaviour
- Encourage pupils’ engagement, confidence, and emotional development
- Support pupils with personal care, mobility, and sensory needs as required
- Be dedicated to fostering an inclusive, safe, and supportive learning environment
Requirements (or willingness to obtain – guidance provided by Teaching Personnel)
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- Enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service
- Level 2 Safeguarding training
- Minimum of two professional references covering the last 24 months of employment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
