Location: Ystrad Mynach, South Wales
Pay Rate: £89.38 per day
Hours: 8:30am – 3:30pm
Contract: Full Academic Year
About the Role
Teaching Personnel is seeking a resilient and committed SEN Student Support to provide dedicated 1:1 support for young people with a range of disabilities and Special Education Needs (SEN) to join a dedicated SEN school in Ystrad Mynach, supporting pupils aged 3 to 19. The school is passionate about delivering high-quality learning experiences and actively involves pupils in shaping its future direction!
This role is ideal for individuals with a calm, patient approach who are confident working with children and young people across all key stages. It is a hands-on position that requires flexibility and a strong sense of resilience, as each day can bring new challenges. To succeed, you must be willing to keep trying, adapt to changing situations, and maintain a positive approach. Your ability to remain composed under pressure, build positive relationships, and apply effective de-escalation techniques will be essential in creating a supportive environment where pupils feel secure and ready to learn.

Who We’re Looking for?
- Resilient, patient and understanding attitude
- Support pupils with personal care, mobility, and sensory needs where required.
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN and challenging behaviours (desirable)
- Deliver consistent 1:1 and small group support during lessons and daily activities tailored to individual pupil need
- The ability to implement strategies to manage and de-escalate behaviour effectively
- A commitment to encouraging the pupil’s engagement, confidence, and emotional development
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Requirements (or willing to apply for)
Teaching Personnel can provide guidance to help you obtain:
- Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
- An Enhanced Child and Adult DBS on the Update Service
- Level 2 Safeguarding training
- At least two professional references covering 24 months of employment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
