Textiles Teacher
Job description
A forward-thinking and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Christchurch is seeking to appoint a creative and enthusiastic Textiles Teacher to join their Design & Technology department from April 2026 on a part-time basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled practitioner with a passion for design, creativity, and practical learning to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4. The successful candidate will deliver engaging Textiles lessons that develop students’ technical skills, creativity, and understanding of the design process, while fostering independence and confidence in the classroom.
The school is known for its supportive leadership team, positive learning environment, and commitment to high-quality teaching and learning. Staff work collaboratively within departments and are encouraged to share ideas and contribute to the continued development of the curriculum.
The ideal candidate will:

Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
-
Have experience teaching Textiles at KS3 and KS4
-
Demonstrate strong subject knowledge, including practical garment construction and use of specialist equipment
-
Be confident in delivering creative and technically rigorous lessons
-
Have high expectations of student achievement and behaviour
-
Contribute positively to the wider school community
This role would suit an experienced teacher seeking part-time hours or an Early Career Teacher looking to develop within a supportive and well-resourced department.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
