Job description

A well-regarded mainstream secondary school in Bournemouth is seeking to appoint a confident and reliable Full-Time Cover Supervisor to join their dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive and forward-thinking school environment where staff are valued and students are encouraged to achieve their full potential.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering pre-set work across a range of subjects in the absence of the class teacher, ensuring that students remain engaged, on task, and working in a positive learning environment. Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build rapport quickly with young people are essential.

This role would suit an aspiring teacher looking to gain valuable classroom experience, an experienced Cover Supervisor, or a graduate seeking to develop their skills within education. The school prides itself on its inclusive ethos, high expectations, and strong pastoral support systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising whole classes during short-term teacher absences

  • Delivering pre-prepared lesson materials

  • Managing classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies

  • Supporting students in completing assigned work

  • Providing feedback to teaching staff following lessons

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with secondary-aged students (education experience desirable)

  • Demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills

  • Be adaptable, resilient, and confident leading a classroom

  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
