Cover Supervisor
Job description
A mainstream secondary school in Bournemouth is seeking to appoint a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team on a full-time basis from April 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about supporting young people and maintaining high standards of learning across a range of subjects. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring continuity of education during teacher absences by supervising pre-set lessons and managing classroom behaviour effectively.

The role will involve:

Supervising whole classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff

Delivering pre-planned lessons and ensuring students remain on task

Managing classroom behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy

Providing clear instructions and maintaining a calm, purposeful learning environment

Reporting back to teaching staff on student progress and any issues that arise
The ideal candidate will:

Have experience working with young people, ideally within a secondary school setting
-
Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills and confidence leading a classroom
-
Be adaptable, organised, and able to think on their feet
-
Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
-
Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
This role would suit graduates considering a career in teaching, experienced Cover Supervisors, or individuals with relevant youth work or coaching experience looking to transition into education.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
