Would you like the opportunity to work alongside an experienced and committed SEN support team?

We are looking for a teaching assistant who has previous experience working with children to work in a secondary school in Derby, working with different students on a 1:1 basis across KS3 and KS4. Upon return to school, many senior leaders have realised the impact COVID-19 has had on children and are looking to employ teaching assistants who are able to support pupils with their social and emotional needs.

You will be required to work with pupils on a 1:1 both in and out of the classroom and assist them with their needs as well as their academic school work.

The role:

  • Supporting SEND pupils on a 1:1 basis in the classroom
  • Work on differentiated activities to deliver to students
  • Liaise with the SENCO/Inclusion manager to deliver relevant support to pupils
  • Develop social/emotional skills for pupils
  • Work with teachers to monitor progress for pupils

What is required from you:

  • Undergraduate degree (related to children desirably) or at least 6 months experience working with children
  • Experience working with secondary aged pupils from 11 - 16
  • Able to hold student attention and focus with excellent communication skills
  • Can provide 2 references which can comment on your ability to work with children
  • Have a calm, nurturing approach with clear expectations
  • Be confident building positive relationships with pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds to help them progress both socially and academically

You should expect:

  • Weekly pay - PAYE
  • Training opportunities
  • Planned staff events (the school often arranges bonding activities/nights out)
  • Feel valued and welcomed

If you think this could be the role for you and are looking for a challenging but rewarding role for after October half term, please apply with an up to date CV via the link below.
