Job description

We are looking for dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistants to support young people in specialist school settings who present challenging behaviour linked to ADHD, SEMH needs, and trauma-related experiences.

This role is about far more than classroom support. Our students may have struggled in previous education settings and need adults who can provide consistency, patience, and understanding, helping them feel safe enough to learn again.

You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support students both academically and emotionally, using a trauma-informed and relational approach to behaviour.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting students in the classroom and during structured activities
  • Helping manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour in a calm and supportive way
  • Building positive, trusting relationships with students
  • Supporting students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
  • Encouraging engagement with learning and celebrating progress
  • Working collaboratively with teaching and pastoral teams

We are looking for people who:

  • Are patient, resilient, and calm under pressure
  • Understand that behaviour can be a communication of unmet needs or past experiences
  • Have experience working with young people with ADHD, SEMH, or trauma-related difficulties
  • Are confident setting clear boundaries while maintaining supportive relationships
  • Are passionate about helping young people who may have struggled in mainstream education

In return we offer:

  • A supportive and experienced team environment
  • Opportunities for training in behaviour and trauma-informed practice
  • The chance to work in a role where every day you can make a meaningful impact

This is a rewarding role for individuals who want to support young people to rebuild confidence, develop positive behaviours, and re-engage with education.

If you are someone who believes in second chances and the power of positive relationships, we would love to hear from you.
