Job description

Teaching Personnel are looking for a 1:1 tutor to work with a complex needs student who will be attending a school in the CT19 area.

The student is extremely challenging and can present with both verbal and physical aggression, including kicking, hitting, punching and biting. He has physical disabilities however this does not affect his gross or fine motor skills. He does have learning difficulties and communication impairments. He also has a walking frame, hearing impairments and a Gastro tube.

The school are requiring someone to work on a full time basis with him within the classroom, starting as soon as possible.

The ideal candidate for this role will be:

  • A Teaching Assistant with experience working with complex students who present with both physical disabilities and learning difficulties
  • Experience and confidence to work with and manaage extremely challenging behaviour
  • Confident to work on a 1:1 basis with students who may be very disengaged from education
  • Able to liaise with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure that progress is tracked on a regular basis and to effectively manage communication and behaviour
  • Behaviour management CPD/training e.g. MAPA or Team Teach
