A Special Educational Needs school in Portsmouth are looking for a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to assist their staff and special needs pupils with moderate to severe and complex needs, to include MLD, SLD, communication needs and physical needs.
The ideal candidate will have previously worked with individuals who have special needs, and experience with challenging behaviour. The Teaching Assistant will also:
- Be able to multitask in a variety of situations and have the flexibility to work with various ages and needs.
- Be able to work in small groups and on a 1:1 basis.
- Be happy to carry out personal care as and when required.
- Have a confident and bubbly personality, with the ability to use initiative and work independently.
- A minimum of GCSE grades A-C in Maths and English.
A typical school day will start at 08:30 and finish at 15:30. The TA will need to get involved with the pupils right from the start, and demonstrate an effective and nurturing approach. Those who are interested will be welcome to spend a voluntary day at the school, upon the completion of a vetting process.
