Teaching Assistant

We are currently working alongside a SEMH school in Cheadle, to recruit a Teaching Assistant to work with children and young people with Social Emotional and Mental Health needs and associated challenging behaviour and other learning difficulties,

As a result of this you would be supporting the teacher in classes of no more than 10 pupils. Your role will mainly involve supporting the pupils with their new routines and classes, helping them to adapt to school both academically and socially.  You will be working with children and young people who are not able attend mainstream education for multiple reasons, such as Anxiety, Exclusion, Physical and mental health issues, disabilities and learning difficulties.

The successful Teaching Assistant would have:

•            Some experience working with children and young people who display challenging behaviour

•            Experience of de-escalation training would be advantageous

•            The school would also consider candidates from youth work backgrounds, or similar roles 

This role demands motivation, passion, patience, and the ability to emotionally support children who are from vulnerable backgrounds and situations.
