We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in the Yeovil area. This role offers a meaningful opportunity to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and contribute to their long-term development.

About the Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work directly with teachers to provide tailored support for students aged 6 to 18. Your role will involve helping to create a safe, structured and engaging learning environment where students can rebuild confidence, re-engage with education and develop essential life skills.

You will be supporting young people with:
• Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
• Trauma and attachment difficulties
• Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
• ADHD
• Complex social, emotional or behavioural backgrounds

The school offers a personalised, therapeutic curriculum that blends academic learning with outdoor activities, vocational opportunities and emotional wellbeing support. Their trauma-informed approach ensures students feel understood, valued and safe.

Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who is compassionate, patient and committed to supporting children with additional needs. Ideally, you will have:

• Experience with SEMH or SEND
• Knowledge of trauma-informed practice
• A calm, resilient and caring approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Confidence in using positive behaviour support strategies
• A genuine desire to help students overcome barriers and thrive

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
