About the Job:
This special school in Richmond are seeking a teaching assistant for a new Year 5 class due to open in September 2020. Pupils within the class are diagnosed with autism and will have associated language and social difficulties. Due to this the school will need a teaching assistant with a minimum of 6 months 1:1 autism or SEN support experience. The position is full-time starting from Monday 28th September 2020 and will include supporting children with autism 1:1 in class, during their break and lunchtimes and with support during speech therapy.
The successful candidate will be committed to helping pupils with autism reach their full potential and build awareness of the world around them.
You will be an integral part of the new primary team who work collaboratively across the school to provide a safe caring, engaging setting where children are respected and valued for who they are. You will make a difference supporting progress for children with autism alongside the class teacher and up to 3 other learning support assistants. You will need to support with additional areas dependant on pupil needs in personal care, feeding and/or medical administration.
About the special school (Richmond):
This school is a unique specialist school meeting the needs of children with speech, language and communication difficulties. It is situated in Richmond with two sites in Twickenham, West London for children and young people from the ages of 4 to 19. The school recently opened in 2019 with a secondary department and are looking to complete the expansion of their primary department by September 2021.

This special school are seeking a professional who is:
- Experienced working as a teaching assistant or with children in educational/care settings
- A minimum for 6 months 1:1 Autism or SEN support experience
- Confidence supporting children with academic learning
- Available full-time from Monday 28th September or sooner
- Trained or open to training to support children with personal care (toilet support)
- Ambitious and committed to providing excellent support and care to children with autism
