The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to help pupils engage with learning, develop key life skills, and achieve individual targets outlined within their EHCPs.
No two days are the same, and you'll play a vital role in creating positive learning experiences tailored to each child's unique needs.

- Encourage engagement, independence, and social development
- Support sensory-based and play-based learning activities
- Promote positive behaviour through consistency, patience, and understanding
- Assist with personal care, feeding, toileting, changing, and mobility support when required
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and therapists to ensure the best outcomes for pupils
- Help maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment
About You
We are looking for candidates who are:
- Experienced in supporting children or young people with special educational needs
- Understanding and empathetic towards pupils with PMLD, SLD, and ASD
- Patient, resilient, and committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning
- Strong communicators who work effectively as part of a team
- Confident in supporting pupils with complex needs
- Adaptable and proactive in a dynamic school environment
- Available for a full-time, long-term position
- Comfortable supporting personal care needs when required
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, AAC, or other alternative communication methods
- Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification or SEND-related training
- Previous experience within a specialist school or SEND provision
Why Join Through Teaching Personnel?
- Competitive weekly pay
- Long-term opportunities within specialist education settings
- Access to ongoing CPD and SEND-specific training
- Support from a dedicated education consultant
- Opportunity to work alongside experienced teachers, therapists, and SEND professionals
