Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Longsight to recruit a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with Autism in a Year 4 class from October 2026.
This rewarding opportunity would suit a patient, caring, and proactive individual with a passion for supporting children with additional needs. You will play a vital role in helping a pupil access the curriculum, develop confidence, build positive relationships, and achieve their full potential within a supportive school environment.
The Role
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the pupil, class teacher, SENCO, and wider support team to provide tailored support throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism within a Year 4 classroom.
- Support the pupil's academic, social, emotional, and behavioural development.
- Work alongside the class teacher and SENCO to implement personalised learning and support strategies.
- Encourage independence, engagement, and participation in classroom activities.
- Promote positive behaviour and support the development of social and communication skills.
- Adapt learning activities where appropriate to meet the pupil's individual needs.
- Monitor progress and contribute to reviews, reports, and support plans.
- Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
About You
The successful candidate will have:
- Experience supporting children with Autism or other special educational needs.
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting young learners.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
