1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (Year 3 Autism Support) – Full-Time Role
Location: Irlam
Start Date: October 2026
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm
About the Opportunity
Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Irlam to recruit a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) on a full-time basis from October 2026.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting a pupil's academic progress, social development, communication skills, and overall wellbeing.

The Role
As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to a Year 3 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition throughout the school day, helping them access learning and participate fully in school life.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
- Support the pupil's engagement in classroom activities and learning opportunities.
- Implement strategies and interventions outlined by the SENCO and external professionals.
- Encourage the development of communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation skills.
- Support the pupil in developing independence, confidence, and self-esteem.
- Adapt learning resources and activities to meet individual learning needs.
- Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with the pupil, family members, and school staff.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment at all times.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful applicant will have:
- Experience supporting children with autism and additional learning needs.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to adapt support strategies to meet changing needs.
- A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- A good understanding of safeguarding responsibilities within an educational setting.
- Level 2 Safeguarding training or a willingness to complete relevant training.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
