About the Opportunity

Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Irlam to recruit a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) on a full-time basis from October 2026.

The Role

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to a Year 3 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition throughout the school day, helping them access learning and participate fully in school life.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
• Support the pupil's engagement in classroom activities and learning opportunities.
• Implement strategies and interventions outlined by the SENCO and external professionals.
• Encourage the development of communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation skills.
• Support the pupil in developing independence, confidence, and self-esteem.
• Adapt learning resources and activities to meet individual learning needs.
• Monitor progress and provide regular feedback to teaching staff.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with the pupil, family members, and school staff.
• Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will have:

• Experience supporting children with autism and additional learning needs.
• A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• The ability to adapt support strategies to meet changing needs.
• A genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• A good understanding of safeguarding responsibilities within an educational setting.
• Level 2 Safeguarding training or a willingness to complete relevant training.
