You will play a vital role in helping a pupil access learning, develop social and communication skills, and thrive within the school environment.

The Role
As a 1:1 Autism Support Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to a pupil with autism, helping them engage in learning, develop positive relationships, and build confidence both inside and outside the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil's individual needs and learning style
- Support the development of communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation skills
- Implement strategies recommended by the SENCo and external professionals
- Encourage independence, confidence, and engagement in classroom activities
- Help manage transitions, routines, and sensory needs throughout the school day
- Build a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and parents where appropriate
- Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for the child
✅ About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Have previous experience supporting children with autism or additional needs
- Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach
- Understand strategies that support children with ASC, including sensory and communication needs
- Be confident managing challenging behaviours in a calm and positive manner
- Possess strong communication and teamwork skills
- Be adaptable and able to respond to the individual needs of the pupil
- Hold GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
